Entry #1 Thoughts on blogs

Before this assignment, I had never even thought about writing a blog. I am still not 100% familiarized with them but from my understanding, blogs are a site where one can share beliefs, tips, news and much more! After reading several blogs these past couple of days, I can identify different blog styles, ranging from personal blogs to professional ones. There have been certain styles that catch my eye more than others. In this entry, I will share three blogs that are significantly different and express my thoughts on each one.

The first blog is http://blissfulgal.com/

This blog has a fun and colorful setting. Amanda is the owner of the blog and she shares with us some helpful tips on traveling, lifestyle, self-care, good deals, etc. I like these types of blogs simply because I enjoy reading content that will help me better myself as well as motivate me to relax or let loose. I admire how Amanda shares her story on how she is battling depression and anxiety which is the reason why she decided to start a blog and "inspire people to live happier." Her purpose for her blog is demonstrated by a lot of fun colors and self-care advice. Although it may seem like a personal blog I believe it is more of a casual/professional blog since there are well organized paragraphs but she also reveals' some personality by adding personal pictures and typing with emoticons.

Amanda uses personal pictures like the one above for readers to better understand her experience.

The next blog is https://www.breitbart.com/

This blog does a good job at keeping you updated on politics. Personally, I am not a fan of these types of blogs because I do not keep up with politicians, it is simply not an interesting topic to me. But, if you enjoy reading things like entertainment, politics, the media, and the economy, this is the blog for you! The format in this blog is well organized, each article has a category which makes it easier to find a specific topic you want to read. On the other hand, something about this blog that I dislike is the excessive use of quotes. It lacks the author's opinion about the topic, but I understand that the author includes quotations for the reader to hear the side of the politician.  The author includes professional images of events that have occurred and proceeds to tell us the story. Overall, Breitbart blog is a professional blog since the author does not show personality, and the text is well written with correct grammar and structure.

The last blog is https://www.smartpassiveincome.com/blog/

This blog gives advice on starting and managing a business. As soon as you enter the blog it asks you the question "do you already own a business?", if you click "no", it will ask if you would like to open another tab that will go into detail about business fundamentals. I thought that was really helpful information for someone like me that is majoring in business management. The actual blog is easy to navigate, the articles have a big picture with a title and a short description. The blog is very professionally set up with partners that work together to inform the targeted audience(business enthusiast) the way to reach their goals. This blog does not show much of the author's personality, although, it briefly explains where the author comes from and his purpose. Also, there are several pictures that have a connection to the themes of each article. For example, in the entry "Success story: Randy Wilburn, the seriously serial podcaster" the author included this picture:

This image was placed at the very top of the story to give the readers a visual of who the writer will be talking about. All in all, I recommend this blog for someone who needs inspiration to start a business or general information on how to be successful.
